PROBLEM: How can you protect an egg from cracking following a 10 foot fall?
Students designed and engineered a “helmet” to protect an egg using materials gathered from home. Helmets worn during sports activities are designed to protect a human skull from injury in a collision. As such, each student's egg helmet should save their egg from harm. The helmet should be lightweight, strong and able to absorb energy. The challenge is to create a “helmet” for the egg so it is not injured (cracked shell or damaged white/yolk).
